Shared Hosting Services Daily & Off-Site Backups
We make backups of your Shared Hosting Package, which includes your websites, databases, and emails every night. These backups are stored in encrypted form in our Data Centre. Additionally, every night, we transfer encrypted copies of the backups to an off-site location for safety purposes.
Our primary backups are stored in Fire and Waterproof Storage Pods, which are designed to withstand fires of over 843°C and being submerged in water for 72 hours.
File and Database Recovery Service
We offer our Shared Hosting Clients a data recovery service for website files and databases. If you need to recover data, please contact support and provide the following:
1. The website folder name and/or database name you need restored.
2. The date you would like the data restored from.
A charge of £14.95 applies for each restore request.
Hosting Space & Websites Files
Data stored in your Hosting Space, including web pages and images, are backed up daily. Deleted and changed files can be recovered from daily backups.
SQL Server and MySQL Database Backup
Backups are created daily for SQL Server and MySQL databases. This allows us to revert to a previous point-in-time or provide backups to clients upon request in case of any changes or deletions.
Email and WebMail Backup
Our mail servers back up emails daily, storing them in grouped files. While we can't recover individual emails, we can restore entire mail accounts.
Creating Your Own Independent Backups
We highly recommend that clients regularly backup their data stored on our systems.
Please note: Our backup system stores data for up to 28 days. If a backup set has to be restarted for any reason, such as a server move or rebuild, the full 28 days of history will not be available again until the new backup set has had time to build back up. While we strive to maintain the security and reliability of our backups, it's important to note that no backup solution is completely foolproof and we cannot guarantee the recovery of all data in the event of data loss. Therefore, we strongly advise our users to regularly create their own backups of any important data stored on our systems.
Dedicated Web Hosting, Hyper-V Hosting and Dedicated Servers backups are available as a paid optional extra, and have different retention periods to those provided with Shared Hosting.
