How to enable WHOIS Privacy for Domain Registrations

WHOIS Privacy (WHOIS Protect)

This article shows you how to enable WHOIS Privacy for Domains using the Web Wiz WHOIS Protect service.

Due to changes surrounding the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Whois Privacy is no-longer needed for EU based registries and for customers that have registered their domains to an address within The European Economic Area (EEA) as private details are withheld from the Public Whois Database be default.

The service is still available for supported domain registries outside the EU for those customers who's registration address is also outside of he European Economic Area (EEA).

1. Login to Web Wiz Client Area Account and go to your Domain Registration Manager

2. Click on the Domain Name on which you wish to enable the WHOIS Protect service for

3. From the Domain Registration Status page scroll down to the WHOIS Protect section and click on the WHOIS Protect Icon option.

If the icons is not displayed then the domain does not support WHOIS Privacy. See WHOIS Protect information page for a list of domains that are supported by WHOIS Privacy.

4. On the WHOIS Protect Settings page scroll down to the WHOIS Protect Agreement and after reading the terms click the check box if you agree to the Terms, then click Enable WHOIS Protect

5. The following page will display to inform you that the WHOIS Protect Service is Enabled on your domain
