This page has information on installing WordPress in the MSPControl Panel.

IMPORTANT: We strongly advise against installing WordPress on an existing website as the install process will delete the contents of the existing website, instead, Create a new website

1. Log into your Hosting Control Panel.

2. You will first need to create a new web site on to which you wish to install WordPress, please see Creating a new web site.

3. The data for your WordPress website will be stored within a MySQL Database. Create a MySQL Database and MySQL Database User. Please see Create a new MySQL Database.

4. Click Web Sites icon option.

5. Click on the website that you wish to install WordPress on.

6. Select the WordPress Tab.

7. Select the version of PHP you want to use for WordPress. This can be changed later if needed.

8. Select the new empty MySQL and MySQL Database User for WordPress. See create MySQL Database if you have not already created a new Database for WordPress.

IMPORTANT: The MySQL Database must be empty, as WordPress will overwrite data that already exists in the database.

9. Click Install WordPress.

10. You will see a confirmation message that WordPress is being installed on your website.

11. Once you have received an email that the WordPress installation is complete navigate to your website in a web browser. You will then be meet by options to complete the installation of WordPress.

12. Select the language for WordPress and select Continue.

13. Complete the form providing the details of your WordPress website, once the form is completed click Install WordPress.

14. That's all there is to it! You should be able to access your shiny new WordPress installation by navigating to http://www.example.com/wp-admin

15. Once you are finished installing and setting up your WordPress website, to ensure it is as secure as possible, you should disable write permissions for your web site. This will need to be turned back on when updating and making changes to your WordPress web site.
